Recent Updates to Trade Checker

Trade Checker keeps getting built on. This list shows every user-visible change with the date it actually went live, in full rather than in excerpts.

Every page loads noticeably faster

The overview page used to fetch its intraday curve from the price source in the middle of building the page, holding everything else up. It now loads afterwards, with placeholders while it is on its way — the same goes for the MSCI World comparison on the return page and the price charts of individual securities. On top of that we narrowed the stored price history to the period that is actually needed: from three months before your first purchase. Overview, positions, dividends and return now usually answer in under half a second instead of several.

Subscription rights are no longer booked as a loss

When a corporate action grants you subscription rights that later expire worthless, no money ever changed hands. The to-dos page nevertheless asked for a cost basis, and the market value entered there then showed up as a realised loss. Such grants now count as free from the outset: they no longer appear in your to-dos, and they no longer distort your realised result.

Pin securities to your dashboard

A security's own page now offers "Pin to dashboard". The new favourites tile shows your pinned securities with price, day change and your holding — and refreshes the prices by itself during trading hours.

Multiple depots under one login

You can now run several depots, for example one per child or one per investment strategy. Each depot is evaluated strictly separately: positions, performance, dividends and taxes always refer only to the currently active depot. Once you've added a second depot, an additional "All depots" overview appears, and a CSV upload always lands in whichever depot is currently active. Switching happens via a switcher at the top of the navigation, and the resulting page can be shared as a link. If you only run a single depot, nothing changes for you.

Arrange your dashboard yourself

The tool icon at the top right lets you arrange your dashboard tiles: drag to reorder, pick a width per tile and hide the ones you do not need. Hidden tiles wait on the left and come back whenever you want, and "Reset" restores the default arrangement.

Daily chart of your portfolio value

The dashboard now also shows how your portfolio value has developed over the course of today, in 5-minute steps with the change since the start of the day shown as an arrow and percentage, refreshing automatically every 30 seconds.

MSCI World line in the portfolio value chart

The portfolio value curve on the overview now also shows a dashed comparison line: how your portfolio would have developed if exactly your deposits and withdrawals had gone into an MSCI World ETF at the same times.

Returns corrected for foreign-currency positions

For positions booked in dollars, the internal rate of return (IRR) compared your contributions in dollars against today's portfolio value in euros. Because a dollar amount was counted as if it were euros, the amount invested looked too high and the reported return too low. Both sides are now in euros, with every contribution converted at the rate of its trading day. If the IRR on a US position looks higher than before, the new figure is the correct one.

Help with exporting and with files the app doesn't recognise

The import page now has step-by-step instructions for each provider, showing exactly where to find the export in that app. If the app doesn't recognise a file, you get a diagnostic file to pass along that can be used to build the missing importer, with no personal data in it.

Foreign currencies: right currency, right totals

For holdings booked in dollars or another foreign currency, a euro sign was shown next to a dollar amount in several places. Prices in the trade and dividend tables now show their actual currency, and wherever amounts are added up (cost basis, fees, taxes, dividends), each booking is converted first, using the exchange rate of the day it was booked. Totals spanning several currencies are now correct.

Foreign currencies shown separately in your cash balance

The cash balance used to show dollar or franc amounts with the euro sign by mistake. Now each currency is listed on its own, so the balance is correct no matter which broker you use.

Every import shows its source

The import overview now shows at a glance which app an import came from, useful once you merge several portfolios or brokers. The source sits right next to the date and file name, no need to open the file to check.

Imports from many more brokers

Besides Trade Republic, the import now also reads exports from DEGIRO, Interactive Brokers, Saxo, Swissquote, XTB, eToro, Revolut and the portfolio service Parqet, plus the crypto exchanges Coinbase, Crypto.com, Bitvavo, Bitpanda and Relai, as well as Swiss pension accounts from finpension. The picker on the import page is grouped accordingly — brokers, CFD trading, crypto, pension and aggregators — and each provider comes with instructions for creating your export.

Account filter across all reports

If you trade with more than one provider, you can now pick a single account in the top bar — every report, from the dashboard through positions and dividends to taxes, then shows only that account. Your choice sticks as you move between pages, a banner reminds you it is active, and the badges in the tables still show where a holding comes from.

Import: five more broker apps

Besides Trade Republic, you can now upload exports from Scalable Capital, Trading 212, Bitpanda, Swissquote and Interactive Brokers, handy if you trade with several providers or switched brokers. The app recognises the file format automatically, so you don't need to pick the provider yourself.

Buy and sell points for US holdings, plus zoom

For shares quoted in dollars or another foreign currency, the buy and sell points were missing from the price chart entirely. They are there now, converted using the exchange rate of the respective trading day. In fullscreen you can also pinch or use the +/− buttons to zoom in and out freely and drag the visible section around.

Portfolio value over time

New on the dashboard: a curve showing how your portfolio value developed month by month — until now there was only today's single figure. It updates whenever you recalculate your returns.

Breadcrumb navigation

Most pages now show a breadcrumb trail at the top with your current location, e.g. "Overview > Portfolio > Open positions > Apple", one click takes you back.

Benchmark comparison: fixed and instant

The MSCI World comparison on "Performance" showed 0 € for every user due to a bug, that's now fixed. It's also stored and loads instantly, with a "Recalculate" button instead of a live calculation on every visit.

Unsubscribe from reminder emails

Using the unsubscribe link in the reminder email, or directly under "My account", you can now turn off these unsolicited emails, your account is unaffected.

Return calculation fixed

Purchases via Private Market offerings or IPOs were incorrectly counted as an extra loss in the performance breakdown, making the reported total return too low on affected accounts. That's now fixed.

Historical prices corrected (reverse stock splits)

For stocks that underwent a reverse split in the meantime, the portfolio value curve showed sharply inflated values on individual days, in one case over €500,000 instead of the actual roughly €15,000. This also affected the time-weighted return (TTWROR). Historical prices are now corrected and affected figures recalculated.

Change your password directly

Under "My account" you can now change your password directly, without first triggering a "forgot password" email. Just confirm with your current password.

Fees & tax per position

The position story now also shows how much a single position has cost you in fees and tax so far, across its entire trading history, not just the current holding.

Menu reorganized

The navigation menu is now grouped into Overview, Portfolio, Analysis, Income, Tax, and Account & Community, so new reports get a fitting home instead of piling up under one "Reports" group.

Smaller improvements

Login is now protected against too many failed attempts, and several rough translations in Spanish, French, Italian and Dutch have been fixed.

Import: staking rewards and scrip dividends

Crypto staking rewards now take their cost basis straight from the Trade Republic export instead of asking you to fill it in afterwards, each reward at its own daily price. Scrip dividends, where you took shares instead of cash, are now imported as well; they were missing from your share count before.

Performance breakdown

The "Performance" page now shows what makes up your total return: price gains, realized gains, dividends and interest, minus trading costs and tax.

Data export (GDPR)

Under "My account" you can now download your complete trade and cash-movement history as CSV, your right of access and data portability under GDPR Art. 15/20, handy e.g. when switching to another tool.

To-dos: suggestions instead of typing

When a transferred holding is missing its cost basis, the closing price of that day is already filled in, you just check and save. For cryptocurrencies the missing ticker symbol is suggested too. Entries for the same holding are grouped together instead of repeating the name and the same hint dozens of times.

Price chart: time ranges, fullscreen and dividend list

The price chart on the position story can now be switched to “since entry”, the last 3, 6 or 9 months, or the full history, handy for spreading out the buy and sell arrows. Tapping the chart opens it fullscreen, where the details of a tapped arrow stay visible, which simply was not possible on a phone before. The dividend list below is now paged, sortable and searchable instead of endlessly long.

Live ticker on the position story page

Every stock's story page now shows a live price: auto-updates every 30 seconds during market hours, including the day's change with an up/down arrow since yesterday's close.

Position story: the story behind every stock

New per instrument: a searchable, sortable trade table with split-adjusted prices (buys from before a stock split are now directly comparable to the current price). A Story badge next to every stock link takes you straight there.

Community analytics

New: compare yourself anonymously with other users, popular stocks/ETFs/crypto, a performance ranking and dividend yields under "Community".

Dividend forecast

The new dividend forecast shows which payouts are coming up next, including a 5-year outlook with a reinvestment projection, split by active and sold positions.

IRR for open positions

On /positions you can now see the internal rate of return (IRR/XIRR) for each open position, not just for your whole portfolio.

Clearer analytics menu

The analytics menu is now grouped by topic (trading, dividends, taxes), and the navigation hub remembers the pages you visited most recently.

Returns page: IRR & TTWROR

New "Returns" page: internal rate of return (IRR/XIRR) and time-weighted return (TTWROR) over your whole history, with a timeline chart and a direct MSCI World comparison.

Todos: gaps in your data

A new todos page shows you where, for example, transferred positions are missing a cost basis, so your winners/losers calculation stays accurate.

Contextual help & favorites

A "?" button on every page now explains the key terms and metrics. Also new: a favorites bar to quickly reach the pages you use most.

Dividends in detail

The dividend year view now has a monthly tab with a drill-down per stock, and the detail view shows the dividend per share.

New design: navigation hub & dashboard

Completely reworked: a central navigation hub instead of a mega menu, and a new bento-style dashboard with KPI tiles, sparklines and year-over-year comparisons.

Install the app, new profile

You can now install the app like a real app, just add it to your phone's home screen, no more detour through the browser. Also new: a profile page with avatar, keyboard shortcuts for the most common actions (overview via “?”), and a cleaner login screen.

Registration & your own login

Now with your own account: registration with email confirmation, a forgot-password flow, and completely separate, private data per user.

Dashboard & portfolio overview

New: a dashboard showing cashflow, fees, interest and open positions at a glance, plus a portfolio overview with category filters and sortable tables.

My Account & feedback

"My Account" lets you delete individual trade data or your entire account (GDPR-compliant), and a feedback form lets you send us wishes and bugs directly.

App launch: portfolio analysis from your CSV export

Import your Trade Republic CSV and get started right away: a trade list, winners/losers by FIFO, an instrument overview, and an activity feed (interest, dividends, taxes, deposits/withdrawals).
